Man is one of the fastest escapes from Dubai. Many locals and ex-pats prefer to visit Oman during the long weekend. Oman, the capital of Muscat, is a beautiful city that offers us many reasons to visit it for a short break on long weekends. Yes, you will be surprised to learn about the various attractions Muscat has to offer such as natural places, gigantic mountains, spectacular beaches, and traditional architecture that will leave you in awe. Oman has some hidden gems that many people are not aware of.
Jebel Akhdar is part of the Al Hajar Mountains and is the highest peak in Oman. The name of this place is ironic, Jebel Akhdar means Green Mountain, but you will hardly find green here. The temperature at the peak is milder, so it's a perfect place to go. On the walk to the top, you will come across many beautiful terraces filled with lush green trees. If you don't want to hike to the top you can drive which is the best way to get to this place.
Nizwa Fort is the main attraction of Nizwa, the cylindrical tower contains secret gates, wells, honey traps and turrets, and a museum showing Omani life. You will have a great time visiting Nizwa Fort, wandering the souk, and strolling the streets of the city.
Salalah, The Oasis
You cannot afford to visit Salalah when you are in Oman. Salalah enhances the green environment and a visit during the monsoon season is the icing on the cake. Apart from that, you can see the Qaboos Palace, the ancestral home of the ruler of Oman, and don't miss the beautiful beach and mosque.
Musandam Fjord is part of the Musandam Peninsula and is a postcard backdrop. The deserted mountains, clean water, cliffs, and terrain make it an ideal place for a relaxing stop or a day trip. You should try to explore the place by boarding a traditional Omani boat or a Dhow cruise.
Explore the country's vast sand dunes and experience Omani culture and tradition. You can opt for a desert tour with the adventure desert trip, or camel ride, and stay in a Bedouin tent for a relaxing and peaceful night.
The Grand Mosque of Sultan Qaboos has religious significance in Islamic culture. The mosque has modern architecture with arches, lights, and colors and is known for its grand exterior and interior. The elaborate chandelier and handcrafted rug (the second-largest rug in the world) are sure to grab your attention. The Grand Mosque is also open to non-Muslim visitors, but make sure to dress modestly by covering your hands, legs, and head while inside the mosque.
Masirah Island is an isolated island with small towns, secluded beaches, and most importantly the base of the Oman Air Force. It has some spectacular beaches that have nothing but wrecks. That's why it's a great place for a beach picnic.
Mutrah Corniche offers panoramic sea and city views and is the perfect place for that experience. The towering mountains in the background with white buildings and the high pillars of the mosque are a sight not to be missed. While here you can also visit the nearby souk, a shopper's paradise, you can buy silver jewelry, souvenirs, and fragrances in the form of Oudh, incense burners, and more.
We are sure you can't resist visiting this place and we are looking forward to the next long weekend. Oman is located in the Middle East on the Arabian Peninsula. The capital is Muscat. Compared to some of its neighbors, Oman does not have the same amount of oil wealth. This is why Oman has switched to other types of industries such as tourism. This has resulted in the country retaining its vast and rich heritage, which is in stark contrast to some of its neighbors who have invested heavily in real estate. In short, Oman is the place to go if you want to have the classic Arabic experience. The best place to start is to stay in hotels in Oman.
So what's so important about Oman, and why is it going to be the next big step in tourism as far as the Middle East is concerned? There are several reasons for Oman's tourism potential. Being on the coast it has some great beaches and beach-related activities. These include snorkeling, beach surfing, and so on. The beaches themselves are well-maintained and pristine. If you like mountains, Oman has many mountain tourism destinations. It's not hard to find guided mountain tours while staying in hotels in Muscat. There are many international tour operators operating from Muscat. The mountains stretch from north to south along the coast.
Muscat manages to attract more holidaymakers than any other place in Oman. This city has many markets called "Souks" that attract buyers from all over the world. After Muscat, the next popular place to visit is the city of Salalah. This city is very different from Muscat in terms of time and landscape. Salalah is by the sea and doesn't really have the desert feel of Muscat. This is where most of the beautiful beaches are located. Camping is also a popular activity in Oman. The 2 best places to camp are Wadi Bani Awf and Ras el Jinz. Nizwa is the city to go to if you like historical monuments.
As with any other vacation destination, if you're planning a vacation to Muscat, you'll need to book in advance to get a room in most hotels in Muscat. This is because the earlier the rooms are booked, the better the choices you have. The tourist season is generally between June and December. This time of year is when the weather is most pleasant in Oman. During the day it is sunny and warm. At night the temperatures drop to more pleasant temperatures.
