Tahery Cave

0 Review

Tahery Cave, around 2 hours’ travel from Muscat is located on the Salmah Plateau within the Eastern Hajar Mountains.

The Hajar Mountain range is the result of a collision between the Arabian and Persian Plates. During this process, the EasterHajar Mountains were uplifted at rapid speed from under the sea to nearly 5000 feet above sea level. The uplift and erosion of the rocks resulted in the formation of one of the region's largest cave systems.

This tour would be a truly unique experience and a fun day trip from Muscat. The recommendation is to sleep inside the cave overnight and cook dinner on the fire. This is medium-level activity, hiking down and around canyons for around 2-3 hours to reach the cave entrance requires endurance but the path is clearly marked. This impressive cave is massive, ropes and ladders are set up inside for those who wish to explore further but the head torches are a must.
