Jeep Tour to Jabel Akhdar

A full-day tour to the unique region of Jabel Al Akhdar, which means ‘Green Mountains’. This is a place where locals come to "get cool" - even during the summer months the temperature does not rise above +25оС, and during winter nights snow even falls on the mountain tops.

In the morning leave for the tour. The first stop will be the oasis village Birkat Al Mouz on the way to Jebel Akdhar Mountain. This village is home to the traditional Falaj irrigation system which is listed as UNESCO world heritage and supplies water to the date palms, and vegetables. It’s worth spending some walking around the old part of the village. 

Then, follow the mountain road to the top of Jabel Akhdar to the picturesque ‘Diana’s viewpoint’ and many mountain settlements where the ancient way of life has remained unchanged to this day. Here, locals grow vegetables, fruit trees, and rose bushes (for the manufacture of ‘rose water). 

Later proceed for visit to Wadi Bani Habib and Al Ayn village. You can walk through a small gorge or visit the ancient stone huts and the tiny village Al Azura hidden among the mountains.

Finally, return to the Muscat hotel.
