Jeep Safari Tour Nizwa and Grand Canyon
Full-day tour, combined with visits to historical places (for example, the ancient capital of Nizwa) and picturesque mountain landscapes in Jabel Shams.
In the morning meet with the guide at the hotel lobby and proceed on tour.
You will travel along the mountain road towards the internal province of Dakhiliya and its capital Nizwa – one of the oldest cities in Oman. In the past, it was the capital and center of the Imamate. Visit the majestic fort of Nizwa with its museum. Afterward, proceed to the market at Nizwa, where there is ample opportunity to buy souvenirs and silver products and to witness the famous Friday animal auction.
Afterward, continue the drive to the highest point in Oman – Jabel Shams (‘Sun Mountain’) where there is a local, 1 km-deep "Grand Canyon". The area around Jabel Shams is also renowned for the manufacture of a particular type of brightly-colored, woolen carpet. Take a walk along the edge of the precipice where the majestic Grand Canyon opens out from this lofty vantage point.
Finally, return to the Muscat hotel.
